In my honest opinion, those last few drafts had no substance. How long it took for you to come up with them only shows how much you really don't want it. It took Thomas Edison 10,000 tries before he created the first light bulb. Did he break down and cry over how long it took? Did he demand anyone's pity? Why is that? I refuse to take part in pity parades, thank you.
